    1. Loses the reader's interest at times but overall a delightful book that is not afraid to confront issues of deceit, death, sacrifice and the inherent injustices of life - themes that childrens' novels often shy away from.

    2. [Short review from memory until I re-read and re-review at a later date:A little bit Watership Down, but I don't recall anything else. Not great, obviously, from the rating, buuut I'm sure it had it's charming moments.]

    4. I loved this book when I was small, like a nicer version of Watership Down. I think it'd probably still be good to read as an adult.

    5. This was one of my favourite children's books growing up, and reading again as an adult I still enjoyed it.
